a subjective point of view and based on personal experience. Its one thing to say that you have had a bad experience with a particular brand, but for someone to say that the entire manufacturing output of a brand is no good based on their experience or the stories of friends and aquaintences(sp) shows a lack of analytical thinking. Every computer company in the world put out lemons from time to time. Its inevitable. Many times its the fault of suppliers who provide substandard puts, but whatever the reason, it just happens. Yes, even Toshiba makes shit from time to time. If you want advice on which manufacturer has the best equipment available go to publications that tests and gather statistical information on computer systems. Even Consumer Reports will be more objective than this forum. As for my preferences, I have purchased three Dell systems over the last four years and have had zero failures. During this same period my office has purchased eighteen Gateway systems and had five complete failures. Two had to be returned and the other three had motherboards and other components replaced - new out of the box. Just my $.02. BobD
